Football is good for your heart: science confirms it
A thought from Il Sole 24 Ore that explains why we train, every week
These months the world has its eyes on the World Cup, but an article in Il Sole 24 Ore caught our attention for a different reason: while people talk about champions and results, science keeps gathering evidence on another side of football, the one that concerns all of us who play for passion rather than for a living.
Several studies cited in the article show that regular, recreational football is associated with measurable improvements in cardiovascular health: more balanced cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, a lower resting heart rate and a reduction in body fat among those who train consistently. A separate line of research, also cited in the piece, links the treatment of obesity to a lower incidence of major cardiovascular events.
Why it matters to us
You don’t need to be a professional footballer to benefit: that is exactly the principle our “football fitness” method is built on. Our training cycles, designed for women and men over 40, 50 and 60, combine the game of football with targeted work on endurance, mobility and toning, in a group setting that makes consistency come naturally.
We’re pleased to read scientific confirmation like this, not because we needed it to believe in what we do, but because it describes, in other terms, what we see every week on our pitches: people who train with us start moving again, socialising again and taking care of themselves, one session at a time.
If you want to get back in the game too, our training cycles are waiting for you on all our pitches in Milan and Monza.
